The JU have been collaborating extensively with the NYISO on the topic of DER aggregations. The JU have worked with the NYISO as it rolled out the DER Participation Model, and for the launch of its FERC Order 2222 compliant participation model for DER aggregations by the end of 2026. The JU have developed the following resources for DER aggregators during the course of the collaboration.
JU Duplicative Compensation Matrix for DER Aggregations
The Distributed Energy Resources Aggregation (DERA) Duplicative Compensation Matrix is intended to serve as a guide for DER aggregators and provides an overview of the utility and NYISO programs that DER aggregations can participate in simultaneously.
The DSP Communications and Coordination Manual
The DSP Communications and Coordination Manual draft is for discussion purposes and is meant to document the Joint Utilities’ ideas regarding data requirements and communications between the DSP, NYISO, individual DER and DER aggregators in order to facilitate the wholesale DER markets while preserving safety, reliability, and power quality.
DER Granular Dispatch Data Whitepaper
This Whitepaper provides background on day‐ahead information sharing requirements for the NYISO DER participation model between DER participating in the NYISO wholesale market either individually or through an aggregator and Utility required to ensure safe and reliable operation of the system. This document is limited to the specific issue of DER day‐ ahead operating plans while operating under the direction of a wholesale DER Aggregator and does not include information on other aspects relevant to operational coordination such as outage notification, real‐time market operations, or telemetry.
